Is a graduate of the N.J.I.T. New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA and holds a B.Sc Degree Civil Engineer. He has been practicing construction planning and management in civil engineering since 1980.

Avshalom is also a graduate of the Department of Economics and Business Administration at Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
